Who we are
We are Cornerstone Communicators Advanced Toastmasters, a non-profit club run for the benefit of our members. We are a chartered club of Toastmasters International. Our website address is http://cornerstonecommunicators.org.
The club is managed by a committee of elected volunteers. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us using the Contact Us form on this website.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect different information based on the relationship that you have with the club.
Club guests
If you wish to attend one of our meetings, we will ask for your name, email address and home Toastmasters club (if applicable). We may also ask you for more information about your personal goals and interest in the club. This information is not shared outside of the club committee.
If you are a registered user of toastmasterclub.org we may ask to associate your user account with the club so that you can be included in communications and appear on club meeting agendas. You are able to control your use of your personal information on the toastmasterclub.org website.
For meetings that are held online, we use Zoom. To use this service you may need to create an account on the Zoom platform.
We create video recordings of many of our meetings for the benefit of our members and guests. These are hosted on YouTube as unlisted videos. Links to these videos are provided to club members and approved guests on request. We make an announcement at the start of the meeting whenever recordings are being made. If you do not wish to be included in the recording, please advise us at the start of the meeting.
Prospective members
If you wish to join our club as a member, a member of our committee will request your personal contact information and further information about your goals and interest in the club. All members of our club must also be registered as members of Toastmasters International (TMI). The information provided by TMI will be handled in accordance with their privacy policy and membership terms. We will assist you with the completion of all necessary TMI forms and documentation.
All members of the club must pay regular membership due. Information that you provide to us about your membership dues will be used by our committee to check the status of payments.
We retain the information that you provided to us as a club guest, including any appearances in video recordings.
Club members
Once you become a member of the club, we will create an account for you on the toastmasterclub.org website if you do not already have an account. If you already have an account, we will link your existing account to the club. This is used by the club to plan meetings and allocate meeting roles, and for youto track progress towards your personal goals. You are able to control your use of your personal information on the toastmasterclub.org website.
We will provide your personal contact information to Toastmasters International (TMI) as all members of club must also be a member of TMI.
We retain information that you provide us about your personal goals, mentoring relationships, progress with the educational programme, and your participation in club meetings and club business decisions such as elections and votes. If you are elected as a member of the club’s committee, your contact information may be shared with club members to enable the conduct of club business.
If you choose to participate in club activities that involve other clubs or organisations, we may share relevant information with the organisers of such activities. For example, we will share your personal contact information with the chair of a Toastmasters speech contest if you choose to represent the club in the contest.
The club maintains a private WhatsApp group to enable communication between members. Participation in this WhatsApp group is optional and you can choose whether or not to be a member of the group.
We retain the information that you provided to us as a club guest or prospective member, including any appearances in video recordings.
Children
Membership of our club and participation in club activities is only open to adults aged 18+ only. We do not provide any services to children and do not knowingly collect information about them.
Website visitors
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
When visitors complete a contact form on our website, the information is stored in the website database and forwarded to members of the club committee via email. Club committee members will use this information in order to respond to requests.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

We use Google Analytics (US service) in order to analyse information about website visitors and to ensure that the website is performing as expected. The website may use cookies for this purpose

Who we share your data with

In addition:
- If you request a password reset on our website, your IP address will be included in the reset email
- Visitor comments on our website may be checked through an automated spam detection service

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
We retain information about guests, prospective members and members until we receive a request to remove it.
Requests to access and update your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
